Praise for Loewe's campaign

“Campaign of the Week”: in the “Kontakter” advertising journal

Kronach. – The editorial team of the “Kontakter” advertising journal - “ the “international news service for the communication sector” - has selected Loewe’s current campaign as its “Campaign of the Week”. This accolade is awarded to advertising campaigns that are “visible, integrated and courageous”. However, and most importantly, selected campaigns must address the company’s current situation.

“Loewe sells premium goods and the Kronach-based company is standing by this strategy. That’s good. …The campaign is supporting its mission with a convincing image campaign: instead of showcasing individual products as in the past, the focus of communication is now Loewe's brand world,” says the editorial team.

“This year, we have seen a fall of 30 to 40 per cent in the consumer electronics market as a whole. Instead of saving, Loewe is investing in communication. …Reactions in trade blogs support the manufacturer’s approach. Loewe’s comeback is already being celebrated,” continues “Kontakter”.

Over the last few weeks, the company has launched its biggest, integrated brand campaign to date, under the slogan “Aus Überzeugung Loewe” (Loewe from conviction). The heart of the wide-ranging campaign is a television advertisement appearing in peak broadcasting slots on channels such as ARD, ZDF, RTL, ProSieben, Sat1 and Kabel eins. The ad is scheduled to be shown a total of 285 times to a total viewing audience of more than 125 million. To reach the target groups as effectively as possible, the advertisement is being shown during sport, show and film highlights, In parallel, Loewe has taken out banners to create a fixed presence on the websites of the biggest national newspapers - FAZ, Handelsblatt, SZ und Zeit – reaching an audience of more than 2 million consumers. Loewe is also launching a social media and PR campaign. All actions refer consumers to Loewe dealers and the Loewe website, where the brand campaign is also featured and continued. As well as being able to find out more about Loewe’s “convincing arguments”, visitors to the website have the option of arranging an appointment with a Loewe dealer.

Kronach. - For 90 years, Loewe has been providing its customers with user-friendly products, offering them believable arguments in favour of owning a "Loewe". Below are just eight examples:

Convincing: joy of use
Smart entertainment systems should serve just one purpose: entertainment. Loewe offers an almost unlimited range of options for using different media from countless sources. Most importantly, however, Loewe offers the truly ideal operating system: with Loewe Assist Media, finding exactly what you're looking for is child's play. That's joy of use.

Convincing: Loewe image clarity
The most important reason for a TV is and will always be the quality of its picture. This isn't just measured in terms of maximum contrast and super-rich colours. A perfect picture is a natural one: sharp detail, but no exaggerated contours, fresh and vivacious colours, but not artificially drowned. Especially when it comes to moving images, the key to success is the perfect coordination of every parameter. After all, only one thing ultimately matters: the best picture.

Convincing: Loewe sound
Smart home entertainment from Loewe is a joy for all the senses: a wild chase or a concert recording become audible experiences too. Whether it be a purely digital audio signal pathway, carefully-crafted resonance chambers or powerful class D amplifiers - all of Loewe's slimline TVs come with precise and room-filling sound built in. Combined with versatile Loewe ID Sound components, it's also possible to configure your perfect, powerful-sounding system from 2.1 to 7.1.

Convincing: Loewe system
Impressive smart home entertainment only works as part of a system. Scarcely any other manufacturer has such high-quality and finely-tuned products across all of its sectors. At Loewe, all of the components come from a single source - and harmonise beautifully with each other. The key strength of the Loewe System: just one remote control is needed to operate the entire home entertainment system. That's what we call sound and vision with a system.

Convincing: Loewe individual design
Loewe ID stands for Loewe Individual Design. The concept represents nothing less than the philosophy of offering customised home entertainment systems for every discerning demand. Whether it be screen sizes, stand versions, speaker systems or colours, the modular principle offers thousands of possibilities for creating a personalised, ideal solution that entirely matches your individual ideas. Only from Loewe.

Convincing: Loewe quality
Since the company was first founded 90 years ago, Loewe has inspired with innovations that are constantly being celebrated as technological milestones. Loewe's biggest successes include the invention of the integrated circuit in 1926, the world's first public demonstration of an electronic TV broadcast in 1931, the world's first cassette recorder in 1950 and the unveiling of Europe's first stereo TV in 1981. With Loewe Connect, Loewe began the trend in 2008 towards smart TVs. In 2013, Loewe is introducing the world's first integrated system for 3D sound. All of Loewe's products are developed in Germany - from the first design draft to the technological concept. The advantage of this is clear: short pathways ensure premium products of superlative quality.

Convincing: Loewe sustainability
Every product has its own lifecycle. The lifecycle of electronic consumer goods has become noticeably shorter in recent years. Loewe equipment is designed for longer lifecycles. Modular technology, high-quality materials, precision manufacturing and not least a timeless design guarantee the great feeling of owning a sustainable product that will bring joy for many years to come. This is the only way that smart home entertainment can really impress.

Convincing: Loewe service
Special products demand special service. At Loewe, this service begins with expert advice from Loewe dealers, who can of course also set up and regularly maintain the smart home entertainment system in your home if you wish. Exclusive Loewe Service offers numerous long-term advantages. Loewe's repair service, for example, stocks a wide range of components even many years after production. A Loewe is ultimately a valuable asset.

- Negative market trend strains entire industry- Loss in the first quarter- Product and marketing...

- Negative market trend strains entire industry
- Loss in the first quarter
- Product and marketing offensive to counter the market weakness

Kronach, April 25, 2013 – Sales of the Loewe Group amounted to EUR 43.5 million in the first quarter of 2013, as measured on a preliminary basis; this reflects a decline of 35% compared to the same period of the prior year (EUR 66.6 million), which, however, had been favored by the shutdown of analog satellite TV in Germany. The lower sales and production volume as well as capital spending on new products and marketing initiatives led to an EBIT loss for the company of EUR 9.9 million in the first quarter of 2013 (previous year: EBIT loss of EUR 0.9 million).

"As seen across the entire industry, Loewe's business in the first three months of the current year was also severely strained by the negative market trend. Loewe's key commercial partners, the qualified retailers, in particular had to absorb a 37% decline in sales in Germany in the first quarter," said Loewe CEO Matthias Harsch. Moreover, the difficult economic environment in Europe as a whole is having a negative impact on the buying habits of consumers.

To improve the company's capital resources, Loewe has begun a process for the evaluation and implementation of several strategic options, including the option of a capital increase with the inclusion of existing shareholders as well as new investors.

In parallel, Loewe is primarily investing in new products. For example, the new wireless audio system 3D Orchestra is currently being brought onto the market as a global innovation. No matter where the speakers are positioned in the room, 3D Orchestra makes a perfect 3D sound experience possible. In the area of Audiodesign, before the end of May, Loewe will introduce the portable speaker system Loewe Speaker 2go which enables connection with mobile devices. "Outstanding sound from such a small size makes the system convincing. The performance of the Loewe teams in China and Germany has made an initial positive impression," underscored Loewe CTO Dr. Detlef Teichner. In summer, Loewe will be launching a new television family intended as an entry product into the premium segment.

The planned product startups will be accompanied by targeted communication activities, such as a far-reaching TV campaign, which will be broadcast on ARD, RTL, ProSieben, Sat1 and Kabel eins during prime viewing time starting in mid-May. This will be accompanied by online advertising via the Internet pages of the major daily newspapers. "All of our product and communication activities are designed for sustainability and strengthening Loewe as a premium brand, but will achieve their full effect only in the second half of the year," continued Matthias Harsch.

In light of the trend in the first quarter of 2013 and the currrent market weakness, the Executive Board of Loewe AG now expects a decline in sales and an EBIT loss for the current 2013 fiscal year.

Loewe AG closes first quarter of 2013 with a loss / decline of 50% of the share capital as defined...

Kronach, April 25, 2013 - Sales of the Loewe Group amounted to EUR 43.5 million in the first quarter of 2013, as measured on a preliminary basis; this reflects a decline of 35% compared to the same period of the prior year (EUR 66.6 million), which, however, had been favored by the shutdown of analog satellite TV in Germany. The lower sales and production volume as well as capital spending on new products and marketing initiatives led to an EBIT loss for the company of EUR 9.9 million in the first quarter of 2013 (previous year: EBIT loss of EUR 0.9 million).

Loewe's business was primarily influenced by a very negative market trend in the first quarter of 2013. Accordingly, the value of the market for LCD TV in Germany alone declined by 19% in the first three months. Among Loewe's key distribution partners, the qualified retailers, the decline was even significantly worse at 37%. Certain export markets showed even sharper declines.

The current market weakness will cause a further consumption of capital in the Loewe Group and Loewe AG, resulting in a decline of 50% of the share capital as defined in Section 92 (1) of the German Stock Corporation Act anticipated by the end of May 2013, should the trend continue as before. Against this backdrop, the Executive Board of Loewe AG has decided to move the Annual Shareholders' Meeting of Loewe AG, initially scheduled for June 11, 2013, to a later date, in order to be able to include the notification – as required under the German Stock Corporation Act – as agenda item of the Annual Shareholders' Meeting in the event of the loss of 50% of the share capital. Should the loss of 50% of the share capital occur at the end of May, it is currently expected that the Annual Shareholders' Meeting will be held in late July. Loewe will announce the exact date of the Annual Shareholders' Meeting as soon as it is known.

The company has begun a process for the evaluation and implementation of several strategic options, including the option of a capital increase with the inclusion of existing shareholders as well as new investors.

In light of the trend in the first quarter of 2013 and the current market weakness, the Executive Board of Loewe AG now expects a decline in sales and an EBIT loss for the current 2013 fiscal year.

Additional explanatory information:
Please note that the initially scheduled conference call for May 7th, 2013 will be canceled due to this announcement.

Loewe 3D Orchestra IS

Loewe unveils the world’s first integrated wireless 3D home cinema speaker system, the Loewe 3D...

- Stunning surround sound, almost like being in a concert hall
- Perfect sound at every seat in the home cinema
- Genuine, three-dimensional sound through the generation of spherical waves
- Maximum flexibility in speaker positioning
- Customisable design
Kronach. – With the Loewe 3D Orchestra IS, Loewe is unveiling the world’s first integrated wireless 3D home cinema speaker system. The Loewe 3D Orchestra IS reflects the guiding values of the German premium manufacturer Loewe: technological expertise and minimalist design. What makes the Loewe 3D Orchestra IS so exceptional is the smart combination of innovative technologies such as active wireless speakers, spherical wave generation and automatic triangular measuring. This opens up complete freedom and flexibility regarding the number of speakers, as well as in relation to the positioning of both speakers and audience within the room. The Loewe 3D Orchestra IS impresses with amazing room-filling sound, effortlessly creating home cinema acoustics of a standard generally associated with cinemas or concert halls.
Stunning surround sound, almost like being in a concert hall
Traditional speakers act as a direct sound source, emitting sound in a narrow angle focusing on a single direction. The Loewe 3D Orchestra IS is different: the speakers emit a spherical wave in all directions. This kind of omnidirectional effect is unique. Just two of these Loewe 3D Orchestra speakers, with the TV speaker acting as the centre speaker, and a subwoofer are enough to create an impressive sound platform. With four 3D Orchestra speakers, the listener is completely surrounded by sound. Of course, the more speakers you use, the better the 3D sound experience you will achieve. The effect is further enhanced by the fact that the system integrates all reflective surfaces in the room (walls, glass panels, ceiling, floor, etc.). The result is an extremely vivid listening experience, transporting you to the middle of the orchestra pit or the heart of the action.
Perfect sound at every seat in the home cinema
It doesn’t matter where you choose to sit or stand in the room, since the Loewe 3D Orchestra speakers extend the traditional “sweet spot” to create a “sweet space”. You can move around freely within this space. Gone are the days of being restricted to a single ideal seated location. As long as you remain within the area between the speakers, all seated or standing positions become VIP boxes in your own home cinema. This level of perfection is achieved thanks to a special process that measures the entire room during the initial set-up. All you need to do is arrange the speakers around the room and then set up the triangular microphone provided somewhere in the back half of the room. The fully automatic measuring process then assesses all physical variables, including the dimensions of the room, any openings or sound-absorbing curtains. In the space of a few minutes, the system is calibrated precisely according to your individual environment. And you only need to do it once.
Maximum flexibility in speaker positioning
If you want to achieve convincing surround sound with a conventional surround sound system, you normally need to pay very close attention to the positioning of your speakers. In contrast, you can position the Loewe 3D Orchestra speakers wherever you wish within your room, choosing the best locations to create a harmonious overall effect. There is no need to arrange them in a line or at a precise distance from the wall or the listener. You can also mount the speakers at different heights. Loewe offers a selection of special set-up options, including a Floor Stand and a Wall Mount. This extremely flexible positioning is also made possible by the fact that there no cables connecting the speakers to the TV or to each other. The active speakers are controlled wirelessly with no loss of quality (5.8 GHz loss less). All they need is a power connection. The measuring process ensures an optimal listening experience for every conceivable arrangement. Noises and sounds always come from precisely where they are supposed to, even if there is no speaker in this location. Only Loewe 3D Orchestra IS offers this flexibility, with no compromises in relation to the sound experience.
Customisable design
The minimalist design and top-end materials of the round Loewe 3D speakers coordinate perfectly with the design of all Loewe televisions. The connecting element is aluminium, from the round base of the speakers to the characteristic operating and design feature of Loewe TVs – the Loewe Eye. The insets on the top of the speakers can also be coordinated to match your television or interior design. From Aluminium Silver and Metallised Chrome, to Ebony and Light Oak, as well as a selection of nine different colours. Customised shades from the RAL colour palette can, of course, also be considered on request.
The TV as the smart control hub of the integrated system
To use the Loewe 3D Orchestra IS, you need one of the latest generation Loewe televisions, from chassis SL 220, to act as the smart audio control and command hub of your home cinema system. With their integrated AV pre-amplifiers and multichannel decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS, these TVs are ideally suited to the job. Networked with the Loewe 3D Orchestra IS, the TV speaker acts as the centre speaker and is harmoniously integrated in the system. As is usual with Loewe, the entire system is of course operated conveniently using the TV menu and a single remote control. The Loewe 3D Orchestra IS set includes, depending on the version, two or four Loewe 3D Orchestra speakers, a Loewe 3D Orchestra subwoofer, the measuring microphone and the 3D Orchestra Controller module. This module is connected out of sight on the Audio Digital link on the back of the television set. The system can be extended from a 3.1 to 7.1 set-up, if required.
Technical data:
Loewe 3D Orchestra Speaker
Frequency spectrum: 200 Hz to 24 kHz
Power: 40/80 watt sine/music each
Dimensions: 10.5 x 31.0 cm (diameter x height)
Loewe 3D Orchestra Subwoofer
Frequency spectrum: 45 Hz to 300 Hz
Power: 100/200 watt sine/music
Dimensions: 24.0 x 24.5 x 26.1 cm (width x height x depth)

Loewe Reference ID

- Superior individualisation
- Picture quality: reference class
- Outstanding sound
- Tailor-made operating system
- Perfectly networked
- Convenient recording
- Elegant design

Kronach. – The exclusive Loewe Reference ID TV is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, exclusive materials, and superlative personalisation potential. The utmost care is taken to guarantee both the production and sound quality of each and every Reference TV. Naturally, particular value is placed on achieving a life-like, razor-sharp picture. In terms of technology, the Loewe Reference ID is equal to anything that cutting-edge television technology has to offer – right through to individualised access to the Internet and flawless networking.

Superior individualisation
The Loewe Reference ID television looks and feels like a work of art: it has not relinquished its minimalist design and is equipped with an aluminium frame in Chrome, as well as black speaker covers and a black rear panel. Alongside the basic version, customers can also order versions with individualised technology and design ex works. For example, monochrome LED backlighting, which casts a soft corona of light around the Loewe Reference ID, impressively showcases the TV as a part of the decor. Then there’s the home entertainment system with various set-up options – supplemented by the perfectly-shaped Loewe Reference ID speakers. In addition, the customer can also choose between twelve frame options, six exclusive speaker covers and nine colours for the rear panel, and gain the opportunity to design their own individual Loewe Reference ID. Such exclusive models are manufactured by Loewe at their Kronach site.

Picture quality: reference class
The Loewe Reference ID’s superior picture is achieved through the use of Full-HD LCD technology with LED backlighting and 400 Hz picture quality. The luminosity and high picture frequency of these displays means they are also perfect for showing 3D content. To achieve a rich black and optimised contrast, the Loewe Reference ID is also equipped with a high-quality contrast filter panel. A sophisticated anti-reflection coating technique minimises potential reflections. The colour display is optimised to make it look natural. An automatic contrast system regulates the contrast according to the ambient light, thus guaranteeing a perfect picture in any environment. The integrated dual triple tuner for DVB-T/T2/C/S2 and the dual CI+ interface for HDTV reception of encoded channels ensure the device is future-proof.

Outstanding sound
It is, however, all a question of tone and for this very reason, the new Loewe Reference ID television is equipped with a finely-tuned sound system. With its 160 watts of musical power, it creates an impressive, authentic and natural sound experience. Different sound modes with optimised sound settings refine the TV enjoyment, making it a real experience. The automatic speech recognition guarantees optimal speech clarity and the incredible 5.5l integrated speaker volume creates an impressive sound atmosphere.

It goes without saying that the Loewe Reference ID is also equipped with Dolby Digital and an integrated multichannel decoder, as well as AV pre-amplifiers for sound reproduction, allowing the new Reference to become the control centre for the entire home entertainment system. Together with the Subwoofer Highline, the external Reference ID Speaker puts the viewer at the centre of his own personal concert hall. The individual speakers can be combined to form anything up to a 5.1 system, with the integrated TV speaker used as a dynamic centre speaker.

The powerful, yet elegant Loewe Subwoofer Highline, with new-generation class-D amplifiers with a total output of 800 watts (sinus) and acoustic pressure of 109 dB, guarantees a distortion-free bass playback – and with its room-dependent equalizer settings, it completes the Reference ID system.

For a thrilling sound experience, the Reference ID Speakers, each with a volume of four litres, reproduce even the most difficult of tones with incredible precision, and the d'Appolito arrangement translates into unprecedented spatial resolution, which means that a cello, for instance, can be heard distinctly during a concert. The high-tech materials used in the speakers, such as ceramic, achieve a precise playback and create an incomparable experience.

Tailor-made operating system
The Loewe Reference ID is also equipped with a tailor-made operating system. Its most important functions can be activated on the set itself using invisible Piezo buttons. The new operating device, also known as the Loewe Eye, displays the current operation status.

It goes without saying that the Loewe Reference ID television also has the new, intuitively usable operating concept, Loewe Assist Media, on board. The process of operating devices and applications is transformed into a captivating experience. For the first time, TV programming, Internet content, personal photos, videos and apps can all be integrated with ease. And the premise of maximum individuality doesn’t end here. All individual content can be quickly saved as a favourite to the home screen – be it your favourite channel, recordings on the DR+ hard disk recorder, Internet sites, apps from the MediaNet portal or music, films and photos from your personal network. And accessing content is just as easy – simply call up the application and the system takes care of the technological element. This is a feature currently only available with the Loewe Reference ID and the Loewe Individual.

In addition, all the core operating steps can be controlled intuitively with the cursor on the Loewe remote control. The design of the TV’s on-screen menu is focused on core functionality, which means it’s easy to find your way around when using Loewe smart TV functions. Eye-catching icons structure the screen into immediately recognisable zones. Sophisticated animation, both in terms of technology and form – such as Cover Flow or picture collages – makes navigation through the extensive media offering a genuine experience. What’s more, the “red dot best of the best” award-winning Loewe Assist Media app for iPad affords the use of an electronic programme guide (EPG), and access to detailed information about films and programmes. And it goes without saying that the Loewe Reference ID flat-screen TV can also be conveniently controlled using this app.
Perfectly networked
Courtesy of the Loewe Assist Media remote control, all of the smart TV functions of the new Loewe Reference ID can be operated intuitively. In particular, these functions include the ability to access media content from the home network. Furthermore, additional web-based services can also be accessed using the integrated Loewe MediaNet. These include attractive video and audio on demand services, news portals, and social media applications such as Facebook and Twitter. The Loewe Reference ID television is also equipped with convenient, HbbTV standard-compliant MediaText. A number of services to accompany programmes are also available online, and are just a click of the red button away with the remote control. These include services such as the attractive media libraries and portals of the respective channels. The latter, for example, allow individual access to programmes whenever fits best into your own personal schedule. And it goes without saying that all available Internet radio stations can also be played.

Convenient recording
Equipped with a generous 1 TB of storage space, the DR+ hard disk recorder integrated into the TV can – provided it is permitted by the content provider – record both 2D and 3D content, and stream recordings to other Loewe TVs via WLAN, LAN or Powerline. It also facilitates time-shift TV in various different rooms. Specifics: access to the main television’s video archive via another Loewe TV in the home network is always possible. Programmes can thus be stopped during airing and – without missing a thing – be watched to the end on another Loewe television. Such a feature remains unparalleled. Courtesy of the integration of the hard disk recorder into the Loewe TV, intuitive operation of the entire system is also possible using a single remote control. This allows you, for example, to stop your favourite programme at just the touch of a button and to continue watching it later from where you left off. This way, that all-important scene must never be missed again. Courtesy of the integrated dual triple tuner for DVB-T/T2/C/S2 other programmes can, of course, also be played whilst another is being recorded.

Elegant design
The design features an impressively simple and linear style and together with the materials used results in the creation of an unparalleled masterpiece. Through the use of exceptionally high-quality materials such as aluminium or refined glass even the basic version of the Loewe Reference ID stands out. The visually coordinated Loewe Reference Speakers bear the same designer signature and, in Black and Aluminium Silver, they fit elegantly into the system. Individual set-up options expertly put the Loewe Reference ID in the limelight in any environment: whether it’s casually rested against the wall or mounted on the wall like a picture, whether it’s with the motorised Floor Stand R ID or the progressive Floor Stand R ID Dynamic – the new Loewe Reference TV always creates a good impression. In line with this, most of the set-up options are also possible for the Loewe Reference Speakers.

From the second quarter of 2013, Loewe is also offering customers the chance to design the product for themselves. For this purpose, twelve frame options with various colours and materials, six exclusive speaker covers and nine different rear panel colours will be available. Customers can also select an LED backlight which encircles the set and makes the Loewe Reference ID appear to almost float when mounted on the wall. This discreet corona of light can be individually dimmed and set to a white tone.

Loewe Reference ID is initially available in two screen sizes, 40 and 46-inch, from January 2013; and in a 55-inch model from March 2013.

The most individual home entertainment system

- Unique picture quality
- Outstanding sound
- Revolutionary operating experience
- Smart TV functions
- Integrated hard disk
- Slim-line, minimalist design
- Perfect system integration
- Future-oriented and energy efficient

Kronach. – No other home entertainment system opens up more personal creative freedom than the new Loewe Individual. Be it colour, material or surface; screen size, sound or set-up options; multimedia or networking – the new Individual television offers in excess of one million different options and integrates itself seamlessly into any individual living environment. The smart TV is not only an exceptional television but a unique product concept – a premium-class, design-oriented home entertainment system in which each element is perfectly complementary. And the technological potential of the Loewe Individual is quite simply limitless.

Unique picture quality
The Loewe Individual is available in three screen sizes: 40, 46 and 55 inches. All versions are equipped with Full-HD LCD technology, Edge LED backlighting and 400 Hz picture quality. The luminosity and high picture frequency of these displays make them perfect for showing 2D and 3D content. The Active Shutter technology guarantees a three-dimensional cinema experience for 3D content. To achieve a rich black and optimised contrast, the Loewe Individual is also equipped with a special contrast filter panel. Courtesy of its anti-glare coating, reflections are finally minimised, thus guaranteeing a pleasant viewing experience.

Outstanding sound quality
The new audio concept behind the Loewe Individual is a particular highlight. With its eight integrated speakers, the optionally mountable Individual Stereo Speaker delivers music output of 2 x 40 watts. Markedly improved bass performance teamed with an even slimmer design underscore the audio expertise synonymous with Loewe. What’s more, the integrated multichannel decoder with AV pre-amplifier transforms the new Individual TV into the control centre for the entire home entertainment system.

The new slim-line Loewe Individual Stand Speaker Slim ID perfectly complements the television set. These sensational minimalist design column speakers fulfil all high-end requirements. Their large membrane produces a particularly transparent and lively sound with a frequency range spanning 150 Hz to 40 kHz. The Individual Stand Speakers, produced in the Loewe factory workshop, are delivered with their own individual certificate and are now available in Aluminium Black, as well as the previously available High Gloss White and Aluminium Silver.

The Stereo Speakers in the system network can, of course, be used as the center speakers. The result is a high-performance and highly-integrated home entertainment system in a class of its own.

Entirely new operating concept
The Loewe Individual is also equipped with an extremely clear, entirely new and intuitively usable operating concept: Loewe Assist Media. This is a feature currently only available from Loewe.

What’s more, the “red dot: best of the best” award-winning Loewe Assist Media app for iPad affords the use of an electronic programme guide (EPG), and access to detailed information about films and programmes. And it goes without saying that the Loewe Individual can also be conveniently controlled using this app.

Smart TV functions
With the help of the Loewe Assist Media remote control, all smart TV functions can be operated intuitively. In particular, these functions include the ability to access media content from the home network. Furthermore, additional web-based services can also be accessed using the integrated Loewe MediaNet. These include attractive video and audio on demand services, news portals, and social media applications such as Facebook and Twitter. The new Loewe Individual is also equipped with convenient, HbbTV standard-compliant MediaText. A number of services to accompany programmes are also available online, and are just a click of the red button away with the remote control. These include services such as the attractive media libraries and portals of the respective channels. The latter, for example, allow individual access to programmes at a time that best suits your own personal schedule. And it goes without saying that all available Internet radio stations can also be played.

Integrated hard disk recorder
Equipped with a generous 750 GB of storage space, the DR+ hard disk recorder integrated into the TV can – provided it is permitted by the content provider – record both 2D and 3D content, and stream recordings to other Loewe TVs via WLAN, LAN or Powerline. It also facilitates time-shift TV in various different rooms. Access to the main television’s video archive via another Loewe TV in the home network is always possible. Programmes can be stopped during airing and – without missing a thing – be watched to the end on another Loewe television. Such a feature remains unparalleled. Courtesy of the energy-efficient integration of the hard disk recorder into the Loewe TV, intuitive operation of the entire system is also possible using a single remote control.

Individual design
The new Loewe Individual sets new benchmarks in terms of design on all levels. Its particularly high-quality appearance is achieved through the use of aluminium, glass and chrome and its extremely slim frame design puts the TV picture more squarely centre stage. Courtesy of the elegantly tinted glass filter panel, the picture is lent yet greater brilliance with increased contrast and optimum black levels. The contrast filter panel, which is flush with the outer edge of the television, gives the flat-screen TV a homogeneous, subtle appearance when switched off. The rear of the Individual TV is also extremely puristic so that it can be freely positioned anywhere in the room. Design is given particular emphasis through the use of individual colours and materials – not only in the lateral insets but also in the Floor and Table Stands. Any colourway in the RAL spectrum can be applied on request. Motorised rotation allows for the optimal positioning of the TV conveniently using the remote control. The Loewe flat-screen TVs will be available for delivery in finishes of High Gloss White, Aluminium Black, Aluminium Silver, and now also in Aluminium Titanium. The new Individual’s minimalistic design is the work of Phoenix Design, Stuttgart.

Ultimate system integration
Naturally, the new Loewe Individual televisions can also be perfectly integrated into the Loewe system landscape. This creates great scope for personalisation potential, not to mention set-up and sound options – from the Individual Sound Stand Speaker SL to 7.1 surround sound all via the Loewe Sound Projector. Bringing the cinema experience home. The entire Loewe system can be intuitively operated using the Loewe Assist remote control, even if the individual components (e.g. BluTechVision, MediaVision 3D or Sound Projector) are concealed inside a Loewe Rack.

Future-proof and energy efficient
One thing is certain, the integrated dual triple tuner for DVB-T/T2/C/S2 and both CI+ interfaces for HDTV reception of encoded channels ensure the devices are future-proof. Furthermore, Loewe regularly enhances its products with new and attractive features. MediaUpdate enables the convenient updating of device software via the Internet at any time. Registered customers are automatically informed when new software becomes available. And last but not least, Loewe keeps all replacement parts in stock for several years, so that even years after purchase, a defective remote control, for example, can easily be replaced. Thus, the Loewe Individual has retained its value for years.

And so to environmental protection ... The new Loewe Individual is not only made of high-quality, easily-recyclable materials such as aluminium, but, with an energy efficiency A classification, the 55 inch version for example, also boasts extremely low energy consumption. The integration of numerous functions is not only convenient; it is also energy efficient and environmentally-friendly. With the integrated power switch, the device can, of course, be completely disconnected from the mains power supply – reducing consumption to zero.

Loewe’s pioneering operating concept

Loewe Assist Media revolutionises flat-screen TVs

Kronach. – With the Loewe Assist Media operating system in the Loewe Reference ID and Individual flat-screen TVs, both available since the start of the year, Loewe is offering a completely new and revolutionary philosophy when it comes to intuitively controlling devices. The central element here is a favourites menu which can be individually arranged and is astonishingly easy to manage, where TV programmes, photos, online content, music, video recordings and more all come together. This makes operating the new Loewe televisions a truly fascinating experience.

The revolution
Until now, the operation of modern smart TVs has always been strictly divided according to categories such as television, satellite radio, external AV sources, Internet applications and network or Mediaplayer functions for photos, music and/or video playback. The new Loewe Assist Media operating system puts an end to these previous conventions. When the home button on the remote control is pressed, a home screen encompassing all systems appears, and although at first glance this may look like the overview of Internet apps currently featured on smart TVs from many other manufacturers, it goes much further than this.

There is space for twelve self-explanatory icons on the screen, each one for a separate favourite application according to the user’s own personal preference. These could be your favourite TV channels or your preferred DVB radio stations and websites. It is possible to assign a favourites icon to your favourite individual music tracks and photos stored on a USB stick or a network storage device. If necessary, even individual TV recordings on the Loewe television’s integrated hard disk or a favourite Teletext page from a particular TV provider can be linked to an icon. The icon will appear as a customisable thumbnail of the recording, the corresponding Teletext page, the MP3 file album cover or the corresponding digital photo. To make your favourite channel more easily recognisable, the respective channel logo is automatically displayed as an icon.

Of course, normal smart TV apps or media libraries can be set as favourites. And finally, even Internet radio programmes can be set as favourites for the home screen – entirely according to personal taste. All of this means that accessing personal favourite content couldn't be easier: the viewer simply needs to decide which favourites he wants to access. Where the content comes from is taken care of by Loewe Assist Media in the background.

Minimalist design
The favourite icons, however, don’t visibly stand out to the fore – instead, they are systematically embedded into Loewe’s display, which looks as minimalist as ever. That’s why under every favourites icon there is also a field between two discreet bars for the description of each item. At the front it contains a recognisable symbol showing the respective media type (music, video recording, TV programme, radio station, online content, etc.) and to the right of this a corresponding explanatory text (channel name, track title, name of recording, etc.). In the favourites view, you can conveniently browse through and select the desired content using the cursor buttons on the remote control, before accessing it by briefly pressing the central OK button. So that the home screen doesn’t appear overloaded or confusing, the new Loewe Reference ID and Individual televisions deliberately only display three rows of four favourite icons. If more than twelve favourites have been stored on the television, the upper halves of the next four favourite icons are displayed along the bottom edge to indicate this. In this way, the user is prompted, almost intuitively, to scroll further down the home screen. The page indicators at the top right are also useful in this respect.

Typically Loewe: needless to say, individually programming favourites is child’s play. Just select your favourite TV channels, a current favourite music track, your favourite online content and more from the conventional device menu using the remote control, and then simply press the new “favourites” button with the star symbol on the remote control and the content is displayed on the home screen straight away. The icon can now be moved to the desired position in the favourites view, and that’s it! So even just programming the home screen is really enjoyable.

The real high point is that all menu surfaces have been designed to be semi-transparent. This ensures that the picture content remains visible, even when customising the home screen or changing settings in the menu, and, as a result, nothing is missed.

Animations such as photo collages and Cover Flow also offer an appealing presentation of images or music tracks stored on a USB stick.
Extensive functionality can still be mastered effortlessly
For those who would rather make their way through the wide range of content on the new Loewe smart TVs strictly according to the media type – that’s no problem. On the left-hand side of the home screen there is a classic vertical menu where the user can choose between TV, video recordings, audio/radio, photos, web content, extras and system settings – all using the remote control. In its menu navigation, Loewe consistently relies on the principle of cross navigation using the four cursor direction buttons on the remote control. A moving spot on the home screen always shows exactly where you are. Only in this way can it remain possible for the user to master the process of navigating through the incredible variety of functions and information available on a modern smart TV set, thus making it a real pleasure to operate too. The large majority of the Loewe menu structure can therefore be reached easily using just six buttons on the remote control.

This is one of the key reasons why, in addition to the standard infra red Loewe Assist remote control, the new Assist Easy compact remote control was developed for the new Loewe Individual. With a size of 149x47x13 mm, this beautifully designed, optionally available remote control is significantly more compact than the standard remote control.

The standard lists of TV channels, radio stations, saved video recordings, files from USB sticks, etc. can be sorted either chronologically, alphabetically or sometimes according to other criteria. And if you don’t want to have to choose from hundreds of satellite TV programmes on a daily basis, the programme lists can, of course, be structured to form additional, individual lists of programmes. Switching between the entire programme list and your own personal list of programmes is performed intuitively.

Systematic further development
During the design stage of the new user interface on the Loewe Reference ID and Individual, it was particularly important to the Kronach-based developers that the user could enjoy operating the televisions. This is why, in close collaboration with the Ilmenau University of Technology, the “Joy of use” concept was developed for the new generation of TV sets – and it’s also why user tests were carried out to check the user-friendliness of the TVs, one step at a time. This also applies to the home screen as well as the use of the electronic programme guide (EPG), the operation of the integrated recording function and much more. It was important to Loewe that the new remote control interface was not inconsistent with the normal user interface, but that it would instead be regarded by Loewe customers as a truly meaningful evolution. Its appearance therefore also fits with the familiar menu structure of the Loewe Assist Media app and the Loewe SoundVision ID audio system.

As early as 2008, the world’s first home-network TVs were launched on the market by Loewe. In 2009, Loewe televisions were Internet-enabled. Just one year later, the ease of operation and multimedia capability of Loewe televisions was comprehensively extended. These televisions became the first in the world to offer the possibility of streaming TV programmes stored on an integrated hard disk to another Loewe television via the home network. Room-shift and time-shift TV were suddenly made possible with Loewe. This was then followed in 2011 by an extension to include the multimedia Internet-based HbbTV service offered by television broadcasters.

The new generations of Loewe televisions
With the new Loewe Reference ID and the Loewe Individual TV, the Kronach-based developers have now taken a huge leap forward. Not only do the TV sets have more slim-line displays with extremely slim frames and remote controls, but they also have completely redeveloped on-board electronics.

By means of its two CI+ slots, the new chassis platform of the Loewe Reference ID and Individual TVs can even receive two encrypted programmes simultaneously – one can be played back immediately and the other can be stored on the integrated hard disk. Needless to say, both CI+ slots need to have the appropriate pay TV smartcards inserted. Both of these Loewe televisions also have an expanded hard disk on board – with a capacity of up to 1 terabyte. The existing USB interfaces allow the simultaneous connection of USB memory sticks for digital photos and MP3 music, a USB multi-card reader (for SD cards and other storage media) and, in the future, a USB keyboard.

With any such cabled or wireless PC keyboard, Internet addresses can be conveniently entered, programmes can be searched for in media libraries and hard disk TV recordings can be renamed. However, a separate keyboard is not always necessary in order to enter letters. Short names or sequences of letters can also be entered using the normal 10-key keypad on the Loewe Assist infra-red remote control – it’s as easy as writing a text on a mobile phone.

Owners of iPads can also control the new Loewe Reference ID and Individual via WLAN and use the touch screen as a keyboard – simply download the Loewe Assist Media app from the AppStore. Loewe sees the iPad not only as a modern alternative to the remote control, but also as a flexible user interface with direct access to the electronic programme guide (EPG) and for searching for podcasts and Internet videos.

And of course, the new Loewe televisions also support all the functionalities of the DR+ streaming function. This means that the television programme you are watching can be “taken with you” to another Loewe television, for example. This can be done by simply pressing the pause button and one other button on the remote control. A few seconds later, the television switches to streaming mode and the display is switched off. If a Loewe television is then switched on in another room, you can resume the paused programme from exactly the same point – that’s how impressive and simple television can be with Loewe.
