Kronach. – The Connect 37 Media television set from Loewe has been honoured with the highest German design accolade, the Gold Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. Only five products received the renowned gold award this year, and a further 20 received a silver award. Along with the Loewe TV set, other winners included a BMW motorbike, upholstered furniture from Cor, a Gaggenau fridge-freezer and a forage harvester from Claas. "The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is a great honour for Loewe. In accepting this award, we acknowledge our obligation to continue along the successful path we have taken so far," stresses Frieder C. Löhrer, CEO of Loewe AG.

Connect brings together a variety of digital applications in the home and turns the television set into an intelligent, networked media centre. The TV set opens up completely new paths in terms of connectivity to mobile devices such as digital cameras, MP3 players and even PC networks. This allows Connect to directly access photos, videos and music stored on a PC or network storage device – all in high-definition picture and sound quality thanks to the integrated HDTV receiver.

The Connect is designed by Design 3 of Hamburg. In addition to the slim housing, perfectly designed from all angles, the Trapeze Stand is a particularly striking feature, lending the TV set a distinctive lightness and elegance. Connect is available in High Gloss White, exclusive Silver or timeless Black. This television set therefore becomes not only a technical centre for digital content, but also an exclusive design piece illustrating perfect workmanship.

The Design Award is presented to products “which are distinctive due to their innovative quality, integrated approach and harmony of design”, says Andrej Kupetz, Director of the German Design Council. The award will be presented for the 40th time in mid-February. Products can only be deemed eligible for the award if they are put forward by the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs or the Economics Ministers and Senators of the German federal states. Among the numerous awards established in Germany, the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is considered the ‘the award to top all others' and the 'Design Oscar', thanks to the high standards it demands.
