Loewe, Philips and Sharp agree on partnership
Berlin/Kronach, 2 September 2010 – Loewe, the leading company in the European premium consumer electronics market, and a pioneer in merging Internet and television, enters a partnership with Philips and Sharp for hybrid televisions.
The three companies today agreed to define a cross-company technological platform in order to drive forward the integration of Internet and television. The aim is to be able to use Internet content easily to enrich television programming. This means that multimedia applications such as video on demand, catch-up TV, media libraries, games and social media become even easier to access via the television.
This means that content providers, e.g. television broadcasters, can rest assured that their Internet sites, optimised for display on a television screen, can be perfectly presented in CE-HTML and HbbTV standard on the greatest possible number of television sets. What’s more, common platforms and interfaces provide dealers and end customers alike with product orientation and future-proofing.
The Loewe, Philips and Sharp alliance is open to other manufacturers.
