Kronach. – The rapid development of the multimedia sector is also revolutionising videotext. HbbTV is the most cutting-edge and innovative standard in this field. It uses internationally standardised elements to connect Internet and television easily. Loewe is one of the first manufacturers to launch corresponding HbbTV compatible televisions. The Loewe MediaText function will adopt the HbbTV standard, thus adding Internet content to the TV programming broadcast via satellite and cable. All that is needed is an Internet connection for the television.

Loewe MediaText offers benefits such as television on demand (video on demand), e.g. from the ARD and ZDF media libraries, and electronic programme guides which are now more informative and visually more sophisticated, including features such as thumbnails and search function. Loewe MediaText, the up-to-date videotext via Internet, can be easily activated with the text button on the remote control. This means that in future, commercial breaks can be used to access news updates or quickly fit in some Internet shopping, as the new function is bi-directional. Information on the current programme in picture, text, audio and video format is available as a convenient special function at the touch of the red button. The information that the channel has made available for this function will then be displayed.

Loewe MediaText extends linear TV via DVB-S and DVB-C with non-linear content data from the Internet, based on standards such as DVB, OIPF (Open IPTV Forum) and W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). This means that a return path for multimedia interaction is also available to the user. An absolute first in videotext.

With Loewe MediaText, Internet and television are coming together in videotext too. The new Loewe MediaText is already built into all the latest Loewe televisions with integrated browser, and from the end of 2010, will also be available as a software update for devices suitable for retrofitting.
